Mardy Field is being included in the MCC's 'Projects for Nature' scheme after our 'Community Consultation' showed strong support for enhanced facilities especially more plants and promoting wildlife. Local resident Zoë Cameron (Mardy Roots) has been liasoning with Jane Clarke, the 'MCC Green Infrastructure Project Manager' and has been supported by the Llantilio Pertholey Community Council.
The north east corner of Mardy Field will be enhanced by planting a number of indigenous trees, namely Rowan, Hawthorn and Amelanchier as well as fruit trees, with a seating and wildflower area and mown pathways to provide easy access. This will hopefully encourage community support for further development. Planting is due to take place this Spring.
Feedback forms have gone up around the site and on noticeboards ahead of implementation. Your comments will be most welcome.
Jane Clarke is also hoping to include Llantilio Pertholey in next year's County-wide proposals to enhance greenery and wild life corridors along the River Gavenny
